The amazingly overblown state of everything has been a bit astounding. I poked around yesterday afternoon in the garden and tried to tidy up some of the beds. There are some lovely things here now that were not here when I left!

This rose above is the new rose that I feared I would miss. The light yellow flowers have this tinge of pink and they are very fragrant.

This lily above is on the street side of the front fence and it is a ridiculously extravagant color. It looks a bit absurd next to the yellow primroses and a rather prim white rose, but the lily doesn’t care.

AND I brought home a new painting. I bought this when I visited the painter Paul Trachtman.

I own this painting of his and it dominates my entire second floor –it is a very large painting (4ft by 8ft).
The new one above is not nearly as large, but it still demands attention. I took loads of pictures in the studios in New Mexico and will write a post sometime about those wonderous places.
