June 2021 White rose and some kitties

This white rose is the most fragrant of the roses I have. It has also been here the longest. Last year many of the roses were eaten by Japanese beetles but the timing on the beetles must be a bit different this year and the roses are coming through beautifully. They are such full roses –so many petals.

This a coneflower right behind it –they are also getting ready to put on a show. Meanwhile, here are some happy kitties.

Claribel, completely sacked out on the back of the sofa.

Martin Frobisher with his mouth partly open.

Sidney looking very handsome –and a little later when part of the blanket slipped down over him.

June 2021 roses, rudbeckia, and a kitty

I have several different rudbeckia in my garden. One my garden neighbor and I dug from a field and I am very pleased it has managed. I tried to have a look at some of the names of the different kinds –but there are so many it will take me a while to figure out which ones I actually have. In any case, they are quite spectacular and should go on for a while.

I was completely convinced that I had planted a yellow rose in my front bed near the bridal wreath spirea. It is definitely not yellow, but what a lovely color and so fragrant.

Here are some more pictures of rudbeckia–amazing when they are about to burst open.

Minnie is very happy about this cool grass that she found. It has been really hot here.

This white rose is blooming so much it almost can’t climb. And the poppies are sneaking over to this side of the garden bed.

June 2021 Poppies, lilies, and catnip

These lovelies popped out over the night! So pink and happy.

I’m not sure I like these overly garish lilies, but they made me smile this morning when I went around the corner of the fence. It is odd too because I don’t remember these poppies in the front being such a strident pink last year.

This rose is looking lovely especially with the Love-in-a-mist (nigella) right there.

The cats are happy about this big bunch of catnip I pulled out.

The hydrangea on the north west corner of the house look particularly good this year and they are just starting to open out.

June 2021 more roses and a kitty

This rose in front of the house was alleged to be red. I don’t think it is red –but it is lovely and bright and very pleased with itself.

Meanwhile the rose that is meant to climb the fence is starting to bloom.

The showy pinks are putting on a show in the front bed.

Turns out the next plant over is also one of these yellow primroses.

I picked up this log from my master gardener neighbor; I thought it would be a kitty favorite. And Tiglet took advantage of it pretty quickly. That is a rose bush behind him, and farther behind him (closer to the fence) is a bed with asparagus and iris. And many catnip plants.

And here is a lovely Cousin getting some happy morning cuddles.

June 2021 White rose bush

This rose is now in its second year here. I think it is hard to get a sense of the size of it. If there were a cat in some of these pictures it would probably help.

Pretty helps here, but I didn’t take the picture in a way that allows her to add perspective on the size of the rose bush.
Here is Tiglet and his tummy. He was Mr. Bunny Breath a couple of days ago –he brought the bunny home and was VERY proud of himself. A couple other cats started following him like he was a rock star. Ridiculous. He threw up later. Bunny didn’t agree with him.
