Quick Sunday visit to see how the river is doing. It was nice and sunny but the breeze was chilly. On Monday morning, there are snow flurries, so Sunday seemed even better in hindsight.
I also opened a couple of pickles… kosher dill (that I cut into spears here) and the other is a thin sliced cucumber pickle with thin sliced ginger, pickled with cardamom and star anise. Yum. The kosher dills are too salty. But I will work harder next time to get the brine rinsed better.
These fields of blue bells (ok, not really a field, but a massive swath of a garden) are just up the street from my house. They are so lovely and the bees are loving them so much that I have to put a picture in here —but they are NOT in my garden.
The kitties have all been enjoying the weather; we have suddenly sprinted into spring. I still wonder about the possibilities for sudden fall back into chilly weather.
This is a picture of Cousin from last summer; I’ve put it in here to maintain his dignity. The next picture of him is very funny but not very dignified. I had been petting him and with the static and all, his hairs are all slicked back in a very odd way.
Well. Yes. And he is sticking out his tongue and he is actually getting ready to bat at me with that upraised paw. And clearly he has been putting his nose in places it wasn’t wanted. There are two little scoundrals in the background too.
I tore out the leftover detritus of the Cup-And-Saucer (vine?/ flower?) plant (Cobaea Scandens). AND I was very pleased to find a complete seed pod that rattles like it is full of seeds. I am especially happy about this find because somehow I didn’t save any seeds (or at least not that I’ve found), and I don’t seem to have the packet or the leftover from last year. Here is the flower on the plant from last summer.
